야구선수 팔꿈치(Little Leaguer’s Elbow) : 소년 야구선수가 팔꿈치 내측 통증을 호소해요

야구선수 팔꿈치의 정의

던지기 동작을 반복적으로 수행하는 운동선수들(특히 사춘기에 있는), 리틀 리그에 속해 있는 야구선수에서 빈번하게 발생합니다.

1. Medial epicondylitis and Adolescents

(1) 8-10 years : bone weakness component

(2) 15-18 years : muscle/tendon/tissue weakness component

(3) 20s mid ~ : muscle and/or ligament weakness component

1. X-ray

First images of a patient with pain on the medial side, then continue reading. 

The medial epicondyle of the affected arm is somewhat more osteopenic. In these cases we usually ask for a comparison view, because it can be very subtle. 

The diagnosis is a Little leaguer's elbow which results from chronic stress injury. The lucency on the radiograph, which looks like a widened physis, is due to cartilage ingrowth in the metaphysis.

2. MRI

There is marrow edema in the medial epicondyle and also in the adjacent bone (yellow arrow). 

By the way this could also be called a Salter-Harris type I fracture, if it was an acute traumatic event. 

Notice the normal ulnar collateral ligament (red arrow). 

In children the weak link in valgus stress is not the ulnar collateral ligament but the physis.

주로 보존적 치료를 시행하며 보존적 치료에 반응하지 않는 증례에 한해서 수술적 치료를 고려합니다.

해당 부위를 촉진하여 통증 부위에 침치료를 시행합니다.
